Losing excess weight not only benefits your health, but it can also improve your appearance. After all, no one likes having a fat belly or a pair of flabby arms!

If you’re like most people, you probably want to shed all those extra pounds of fat in the shortest time possible. However, this isn’t always the best route. Losing weight slowly and under controlled conditions often brings more long-lasting results.

This is where weight loss clinics come in.

There have been many weight loss clinics popping up in recent years, but not all of them are worth your money. Some may even be endorsed by celebrities — but this does not necessarily mean it’s a good weight loss clinic. Others may make grandiose promises on how fast you will lose weight, or they will show you ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos to tempt you. This is why it’s extremely important that you do your due diligence before joining any of them.

Before you join a weight loss clinic, enquire about the following:

  • Presence of Qualified Physician
    Are there any qualified physicians present at the clinic? If you have gained weight because of medical complications, you need someone available to ensure your health is not complicated during the program. Also, it’s important that you don’t suffer from any side-effects from weight loss. In short, if there are no physicians available at the clinic, then don’t join it!
  • Length of Program
    Find out how much time, on average, it will take you to lose weight and how much weight you can be expected to lose within that time period. The salesperson might try to offer misleading answers on this question so make sure to make local enquiries too. Remember that if the clinic claims to help people lose huge amounts of fat within a very short time — say 50 pounds within two months — then that means they are using some unhealthy weight loss methods. Run from such clinics!
  • Food
    What food do they suggest that you eat? This is a very crucial question you should ask before joining any weight loss clinic. Most of the weight loss clinics offer pre-packaged meals to their clients. Pre-packaged meals are okay if you can spend hundreds of dollars on them, but what if you don’t have that much money? Besides, what will happen after you reach your goal weight? Will you keep spending ridiculous amounts of money on their food? Any weight loss clinic which limits you to their pre-made meals is not a viable solution for you. You should be allowed to cook foods on your own.
  • Exercise
    Regardless of what people tell you, it is almost impossible to lose weight without the aid of exercise. Changing your eating habits alone won’t yield any permanent results. Weight loss can be achieved only when you combine healthy eating with physical activity. Exercise boosts your metabolic rate, which in turn helps you to burn fat faster. If the clinic in question doesn’t include exercise in their weight loss program, this is not a suitable clinic for you!

4 Foods That Help With Weight Loss

Did you know you can lose weight by eating certain foods? Sounds unbelievable, I know. After all, you’ve probably thought all along that you had to starve yourself to lose weight.

The fact is your body has to burn calories to lose weight. Unfortunately, as we become older, our metabolic rate slows down and we’re not able to burn off as much fat as we did in our younger years. But when you eat these ‘special’ foods, you’re boosting your metabolic rate!

Rest assured, the foods I’m going to tell you about don’t contain any artificial ‘metabolism-boosting’ chemicals. They are all perfectly safe and natural … and good for you.

The first one is Green Tea. If you’re in the habit of drinking morning tea, replace it with green tea. Ordinary tea is OK, but green tea is better because it contains fat-burning elements that will help you with weight loss. It’s no wonder that many of the weight loss supplements available in the market have green tea as a common ingredient!

Another good food to eat is Peanut Butter. Have you ever tried replacing regular butter with peanut butter? Unlike ordinary butter, which is rich in fat, peanut butter is rich in protein and fiber, both of which help you with weight loss. Protein helps you burn fat by building lean muscle mass and fiber helps in suppressing your appetite for a long time. It’s best to use ‘natural’ peanut butter rather than the commercial brands. Or better yet, prepare your own at home! Try spreading it on some wholegrain wheat bread for breakfast.

The third food that is great for you is Almonds. There are two types of fat: good fats and bad fats. The bad fats should be avoided because, well, they make you fat! The good fats, on the other hand, supply your body with essential nutrients such as fatty acids. Almonds are rich in fatty acids and protein. They will help you burn fat by boosting your metabolic rate. Plus, they help keep your cholesterol under control.

And finally, eat lots of Beans. They are rich in fiber so they help to keep your stomach full for a long time. How to Achieve Your Weight Loss Goals

There are many factors that determine the success or failure of your weight loss goals. In this article I’m going to tell you about three simple and powerful techniques that will help you lose weight successfully.

  1. Set Small Goals
    Most people are unable to achieve weight loss because they set their weight loss goals so high that they’re tempted to quit when they don’t see immediate results. It’s far better to start slow and accept the fact that you’re not going to see overnight results.  For example, you may decide to stop eating junk foods altogether — and for a couple of days, you’re going to try really hard to stay away from them. However, by doing that, you’re going to be all the more tempted to take a bite of your favorite fatty foods. As a result, you’ll end up gaining more pounds than what you started with. What a waste! Here is an easier way to do it: instead of trying to cut down on your junk food intake entirely, try to replace one junk food with one good food. Do you eat butter? Well, replace that with peanut butter. Next day, replace burgers with raw carrots. If you eat white breads, replace that with whole grain wheat breads. This way you’re setting small goals and it will be much easier to make changes. Eventually you will realize that you have completely replaced your bad foods with healthy foods … and without going through any stress or temptation!
  2. Replace Bad Habits with Good Ones
    Remember that you gained weight because of certain bad habits. Ideally you should break those old habits in order to lose weight, but breaking an old habit is easier said than done. What you can do is modify your bad habit enough so that it becomes a good and healthy habit. If you are like most people, you have a habit of snacking in the afternoon. Instead of trying to break this habit, try to replace the snack itself. If you eat potato chips or cookies as snacks, replace them with low-fat yogurt or raw fruits.
  3. Get Rid of Temptations
    Unless you learn to control your temptations, you won’t be able to lose weight successfully. One overwhelming temptation most overweight people suffer from is … food! Whenever you are tempted to eat, do something to distract yourself from thinking about food. Try dancing, driving, walking around your house, doing some sit-ups, or drinking a glass of water. All of these things will help keep yourself away from the continuous food cravings!
